Document viewing and privacy

You can view published documents without providing your name or signing in.

Viewing analytics

When analytics are enabled, ArcLoom records a random session identifier, the document and version, pages viewed, session timestamps, and estimated active viewing time per page. The timer pauses when the tab is hidden, the window loses focus, the download form is open, or there has been no activity for 60 seconds. This is an estimate of engagement, not proof that a page was read.

Use “Turn off analytics” in the viewer to stop future viewing events. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals turn viewing analytics off by default. Your choice is saved on this device when browser storage is available. No advertising trackers or cross-site fingerprinting are used.

Downloads and contact details

Downloading the PDF requires your name, organization, email, and agreement to share those details with ArcLoom. If analytics are enabled, those details are also linked to this viewing session. They are self-reported, not verified. This is not a mailing-list signup.

A download record means the server supplied the PDF. It does not confirm that the file was saved or read. Offline reading and onward sharing cannot be tracked.

When owner email notifications are enabled, Google Gmail processes your submitted contact details, the document and version, and the request time to send a download alert to ArcLoom’s site owner. No notification is sent to you and this does not enroll you in marketing emails. Notification emails are separate from the website’s database records and are not automatically deleted by its 180-day retention process. You can include notification emails in a request to remove your information.

Access and retention

Reports and contact details are restricted to ArcLoom’s site owner. Records are retained for up to 180 days and removed during subsequent analytics or download activity. Hosting is provided through Sites on Cloudflare infrastructure. The application does not store raw IP addresses; an hourly network hash is temporarily used for abuse limits. Hosting providers may maintain their own operational logs.

This working paper is public. Anyone can view it, and displayed pages can be saved or copied.

For questions or a request to remove your records, use ArcLoom’s contact section and include the email you used to download.
